Comrad, formerly operating under the name of Software Innovations, was founded in 1987 by Andrew Scott to supply information systems for the medical market. Since then, Comrad has evolved with a focus specifically on providing software products exclusively for the radiology market. In 2002, the name of Software Innovations was changed to Comrad to bring the name of the company in line with its main product called COMRAD.
Comrad grew steadily throughout the 1990’s, and in 2005 a number of events came together to accelerate the growth of Comrad, including:
• Release of COMRAD 2 – a significantly enhanced RIS product
• Introduction of a major new shareholder – the Savage Group
• Establishment of a Board of Directors with an independent Chairman, Mark Bowman
• Expansion of Comrad sales into Australia
With significant growth on the back of these events, Comrad in 2012 appointed the inaugural Australian CEO, Elizabeth Delahunty. This appointment strengthened the trans-Tasman presence, and complemented the NZ team with the presence of customer-focused roles based in Melbourne.
In 2015, Comrad announced that the Savage Group extended its investment and now owns 100% of the Comrad business. The acquisition is the first in a series of initiatives to build on Comrad’s position as the leading provider of workflow solutions to the Australian and New Zealand radiology markets.
Comrad is now the largest dedicated RIS provider in Australia and New Zealand, with a range of clients from large multi-state radiology service providers and hospitals to smaller niche providers. We cater for all sizes of radiology businesses with scalable solutions and service.
